Varanasi is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and is considered to be one of the holiest cities in India. The city is situated on the banks of the Ganges River and is known for its ancient temples, ghats (riverfront steps), and spiritual practices. Visitors can take a boat ride on the Ganges River, explore the city’s temples and bazaars, and witness the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony. The weather in Varanasi is hot and humid throughout the year, with monsoon season from June to September. The town has a variety of dining options serving local Uttar Pradesh cuisine, as well as international cuisine.
